First Style projection

 
First Style projectionThis fragment is part of rusticated projections with black background which was removed from the inside of the northern wall of the basilica between the 24th February and the 31st March 1841 on the instructions of F.M. Avellino, Director of the Archaeological Museum and Excavation at Pompeii, with the aim of preserving the graffiti thereon alongside the other eighteen pieces which came from the same building. On this piece, which is one of the precious few examples of First Style decoration in the Museum, are written four lines:
